The Denver Broncos travel to the Southwest to take on an equally bad Arizona Cardinals team on December 12th. Now that the Josh McDaniels era is prematurely ended, the Denver Broncos can go about the healing process by taking on an Arizona Cardinals team that is much worse than Denver.
Denver Broncos Defense vs Arizona Cardinals Offense
Much is said about the high powered offense of the Denver Broncos but the truth is they are playing at such a frantic pace to catch up to their opposition. The Denver Broncos defense is average against the pass despite having Champ Bailey on the strong corner.
Bailey is still one of the best shut down cornerbacks in the NFL. The loss of Elvis Dumervil was a huge blow to this defense and it has manifested itself in the lack of a string run defense. The run defense for the Denver Broncos is yielding over 140 yards per game on the ground.
The Arizona Cardinals offense has gone from one of the most high powered NFL shows to an embarrassment in just one year. Star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has suffered through this season as the number one wide receiver and he has no idea who the quarterback will be week to week. The running game for the Arizona Cardinals has been non existent this season and is averaging only 78 yards per game. The Denver Broncos defense has the edge over the Arizona Cardinals offense.
Arizona Cardinals Defense vs Denver Broncos Offense
The Arizona Cardinals defense is as opportunistic as they were last season but they are not as lucky as they were in 2008 and 2009. The secondary is allowing over 240 yards through the air and their gambling has got the best of them on several occasions. Against the run this Arizona Cardinals defense is giving up over 140 yards per game on the ground. These numbers are not going to get them anything more than a high NFL Draft pick come April.
The Denver Broncos offense has potential especially if they can get Knowshon Moreno running like he was in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Moreno is the key to this offense and he needs to rush for over 100 yards per game if the Denver Broncos want to be successful. Kyle Orton is still a top ten quarterback in the McDaniels offense but the question for this game is what offense will be run. The Denver Broncos offense has the edge over the Arizona Cardinals defense.
