In “Dexter” Season 5 Episode 7 “Circle Us,” a man is at the dump site with a group of laborers. The drums filled with dead women in formaldehyde are loaded up in the back of a pickup truck. Evidently, someone is trying to cover tracks.
But things go wrong when a drunk driver smacks into the truck, scattering drums and dead women all over the road.
No one is more filled with consternation than Dexter, who is of course called to the crime scene. But every trouble comes with opportunity. The forensics point to a man named Cole, the chief of security for a man named Jordan, the motivational speaker Boyd was so enamored with. And who should show up at the police station but Cole and Jordan. My goodness, one of our trucks was stolen and, my heavens, who could have done such a thing.
Laguerta and Angle are, to say the least, skeptical. So Cole becomes the main focus of the investigation. Dexter has to move fast. It will not do if Cole and then Jordan fall into police hands before they fall into his. He shows pictures he takes of the two to Lumen. Cole is identified as “coat and tie,” who always took off his coat and folded it before starting in on her. Was Jordan “tick tock,” who put a watch to her ear and taunted her that he life was leaving her, tick tock? Very likely
So, with Lumen’s help, he sanitizes Boyd’s house to remove any trace of Lumen and then acquire Boyd’s wallet to plant in the car. Now the focus of the investigation is Boyd. So far so good.
Now it’s time to get Cole. But things go wrong there when Cole jumps Dexter. However, Lumen, whom Dexter had taken along reluctantly as a lookout, jumped Cole. The two get away unseen and unharmed.
Now they have bonded. Lumen even gives Dexter a hug, something she could not do. Will this blossom into something more? Has Dexter found a new love, someone with whom he can share everything? And the picture they found, which shows the teenage Boyd, Cole, and the dead dentist? That is a great clue.
But, from the profane to the sacred, he finds that his Irish nanny is really good with Harrison, even accepting her introduction of a statue of St. Bridget to watch over the little guy. One should always hedge one’s bets.
Meanwhile, the stakeout at the club goes horribly wrong as one of the Fuentes brothers makes Jasmine, one of the informants who had been wired for sound. In the ensuing gunfire, Jasmine dies and Debra caps one of the brothers. Another innocent bystander dies. Three wounded. Complete CF. And Laguerta, going back to type, is trying to do a CYA.
