I could hear the vampire coming up behind me on the street. He thought I was an ordinary human and was looking forward to a snack but he had picked the wrong girl to munch on. I strolled on, stopping to peer into a store window pretending to window shop as I allowed him to close the distance between us. I sniffed the air around me and could only smell the cold, dark scent that came with the vampire race. No humans were around. I turned and ambled on; reaching the alley I quickly stepped into the darkness and waited.
It did not take the creature long to find me. His eyes were glowing red in the darkness as he saw me huddled at the brick wall dead end of the alley. “Stupid human”, I heard him mutter as he came toward me. Before he could touch me I stood and could see the startled look on his face as he realized he was not dealing with a simple human. The look quickly disappeared and was replaced by the look of disdain that so many of his kind think make them look fearsome. I saw him sniff the night air and he snorted as my scent reached his nostrils.
“A dog. I should have known. Ah well, your blood will be just as tasty as any humans, Bitch. I look forward to our embrace.” He cackled evilly and I could see his fangs descend.
“This bitch has a name, you evil piece of smut, and it is Diamond.” I told him as I reached under my leather duster for the silver sword I always carried with me.
For a moment, there was a hint of fear in his eyes before bravado returned. “Diamond. I have heard of you. Just think how my name will be spread among my people when they learn that I have killed the dreaded vampire hunter herself. Kilos will be a name long revered for what I am about to do.”
All the time Kilos had been yapping about what he was going to do to me, I had been watching him and how he moved. He appeared to be an old vampire and that meant more powerful. But at the same time, that meant an increase in arrogance and that I could use.
“Kilos, huh. I have never even heard of you.” I said as I pulled my sword free of its scabbard and stood with my legs slightly apart and arms relaxed at my side.
I saw his eyes widen slightly at the sight of my legendary sword, but he recovered quickly. “You will not defeat me, Bitch. Your tiresome reign as vampire hunter will end this night.”
I had shut out his words and was watching his muscles for any sign of movement. I saw his legs quiver as he gathered himself to jump at me and I moved quickly to the left. He landed on the spot where I had been only to find I was no longer there and was at his back. Before he could turn, I grabbed his head with my free hand, pulled him against me and used my sword to take his head. Why waste words with a vampire? As his body fell, I threw his head away and quickly removed his heart with the tip of my sword. Without those two necessary body parts, his carcass quickly began to turn to dust and before I had even left the alley, there was only dust swirling in the wind at the end of that alley. One less vampire to hunt on humans.
Yes, I am a werewolf and I hunt vampires. My name is Diamond and I am married to my pack alpha, but I was hunting vampires long before I met my mate. You see, it was a vampire who is responsible for me being a werewolf. Instead of taking my blood, he thought it might be fun to turn me over to his guard dogs as a treat. He had three mangy rogue werewolves that worked for him as his guards during the day when he was sleeping and he gave me to them as a doggy treat. Good thing I am pretty or they might have eaten me. As it was, their treatment of me was far worse. When they finished with me, I was bleeding so badly from all the bite wounds, they figured I would die anyway and just threw me into a ditch. I survived and you guessed it, when the next full moon came along, I changed.
There is so much false information out there on werewolves and I’m not going to clear up most of it because it protects us. But one thing about us is that while we are in wolf form, we are still able to think as humans. That is what makes us the most dangerous monsters out there. That first time I turned, I was alone and very scared. Some people don’t survive the first changing, but I did. In my human form I am a 6 foot tall blond with blue eyes and my wolf form is white with blue eyes and I weigh about 200 pounds. That’s a big wolf.
But I digress. That first full moon was the night I found those rogue wolves and took my revenge on them and their nasty vampire master. Word quickly spread about the white wolf and what I had done. The local pack found me and took me under their wing. I learned much from them on survival and how to control my wolf. I am now able to turn even when the moon isn’t full and I am also able to turn only parts of my body. My alpha tells me it is very unusual for one that was made to be so powerful, but I feel that I have a purpose and that is to kill vampires.
Yes, I carry a silver sword and no, it doesn’t hurt me. It is just another thing that sets me apart from the other werewolves. Silver is pure and that is why it is so effective against something so evil like vampires. Once I had gotten rid of the one who was responsible for me becoming what I am, I started hunting and killing them.
My name is Diamond. I am a werewolf and I kill vampires.
