If you find yourself in the Dilworth neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina, anytime soon, drop in at the Dilworth Neighborhood Grill, for a drink or something to eat.
I was there in September for the first time, and found the food good and the atmosphere friendly. I had wine and a spinach salad with walnuts, mushrooms and onions topped with crumbled blue cheese and hot bacon vinaigrette dressing on the side.
It felt pretty good to fill up on healthy food (ok, I know cheese has fat and calories, but it beats a double cheeseburger)! Anyway, it was a huge salad and I was more than satisfied with it and the $7.95 price.
That doesn’t mean I didn’t take a bite of my friend’s meatloaf when he offered, but it was just a small bite. The Homemade Meatloaf was topped with Marinara and served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. It was $9.95.
We were there on a Wednesday night, which happened to be music trivia night, and while neither of us were any good at figuring out the songs–they played each song for just a few seconds–it was fun to watch.
If you’re looking for total quiet, you’re in the wrong place, but if you like a little rambunctiousness or like to keep up with whatever game happens to be on, you’ll have a good time at the Dilworth Neighborhood Grill.
In fact, if you’re looking for a place to catch the game, sit at the bar or head to other rooms, such as the Morehead and Latta, to watch on big screen TVs. If soccer is your thing, no problem. You can watch it at Dilworth Neighborhood Grill, whether you’re rooting for Arsenal, Juventus, South Africa or the LA Galaxy.
The grill is also home to several alumni clubs, including Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Michigan State, Texas and West Virginia. Their NFL teams include Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets. When the Panthers play a home game, the Dilworth Neighborhood grill hosts a free shuttle to the stadium
