With Halloween approaching, children all around are getting excited in anticipation. With so many different movie choices available these days, it is important you know a little bit about what your children will be watching. Disney has always been thought of as a wholesome company. They have produced numerous amounts of children’s movies. In fact, a few of those movies happen to be about Halloween. If you have younger children or even tweens, these movies should be a hit during the Halloween season!
This movie was released in 2005 and is rated PG. The basic story centers around twin witches (hence the “twitches” name) who were separated from their mother (that lives in another realm) and were adopted by separate families. They eventually bump into one another on their birthday and weird things begin to happen. Their uncle is trying to abolish their mother in the other realm and they have to get there and defeat him. The problem is, the uncle is disguising himself as their deceased dad. Can they figure out it is not their dad and it is their uncle playing this nasty trick on them? Will they save their mother? Twins Tia and Tamara Mowry star in this movie.
Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie
This was released in 2005 and is rated G. All of the Pooh movies are absolutely adorable and obviously geared towards children on the younger side. This is a story about a monster in the hundred acre woods that is turning trick or treaters into jack-o-lanterns. The gang has the task of deciding whether to chance going out trick or treating, or stay at home. To find out what Pooh, Roo, and the Heffalump decide, you will have to watch the movie!
This was released in 1993 and is rated PG. This is more of a movie for older children rather than the younger ones. The story is based on the three Sanderson sisters. They were witches and burned at the stake. Before they were burned, the oldest sister put a spell on a candle. If a virgin happened to light the candle on Halloween, the sisters would return. Well, a virgin does light the candle and sets a bunch of “scary” and wacky events in play. The Sanderson sisters are set to wreak havoc, are you ready to watch them? The Sanderson sisters are played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Bette Midler.
This movie was released in 1998 and is an original Disney Channel movie. It is a considerably child friendly movie, and children on the younger side should have no issues watching it. It centers around a family of witches (grandmother, mother, and daughter). The mother does not allow her daughter, or her other two children (one boy and one girl), to become involved in anything Halloween. The grandmother arrives for an annual Halloween visit, and the kids see some magic happening between their mom and grandmother. When the grandmother leaves, the three children follow. Grandmother gets on a mysterious bus and the kids follow quickly behind. Of course when they arrive, they are now in Halloweentown. What kind of trouble will Marnie, Dylan, and Sophie get into while they are stuck here? Watch this movie and find out! Debbie Reynolds stars as Marnie’s grandmother.
