Each year Disney fans and are treated to the most spectacular light show ever. The show begins at dusk which is usually about 6 p.m. ET, as the lights are first turned on. The best time to go is actually about a half hour before the park closes.
We found that although the park may close at 8 p.m., the Fantasmic show also begins at 8 p.m. in another location of the park. If you’ve already seen the Fantasmic show in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater near the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, head towards the Osborne Family Light Show – there are fewer crowds because most people are at the Fantasmic show and although the rest of the park closes at 8 p.m. Disney continues the Osborne light show until after 8:30 p.m., shops near the entrance usually remain open for an hour after the park closes.
From Nov 8, 2010 to January 3, 2011 – Four million twinkling lights will dance to the music of the nutcracker and other popular Christmas tunes. The Osborne Family Light Show is located on the Streets of America in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, FL. Since 1995, Disney has shared the Osborne Family light show to millions of visitors. Every 10-15 minutes, the lights are lowered and the music begins to bring the lights to life, synchronized to Christmas classics, along with stories shared over the loud speakers.
The Osborne’s are an Arkansas family who began with a dream. The youngest daughter of Jennings Osborne wished that their entire house could be covered in Christmas lights. Osborne continued to add to his light display from the 1980s to early 1990s. As the traffic and attention grew in the neighborhood, so did the disgruntled neighbors. After a lengthy court battle with neighbors, Disney offered to be the new home of the Osborne light show and now more fans can enjoy the spectacular light show every year from early Nov to the New Year.
