Do you have your ticket to Heaven? This is a simple question. The ticket is free. Jesus already paid the price on the cross at Calvary. The problem is many people think there are various ways to get to heaven. John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”
In this world, we have tickets to everything. You need a ticket to get into the movie theatre. You need a ticket to go to your favorite sporting event. You need a ticket to get on an airplane. You need a ticket to go to a concert. The only ticket you do not want to get is a traffic ticket. There are some tickets that the normal person cannot get their hands on. There are parties for the movie stars, music stars, and other famous people. You have to be one of the special people chosen to get into one of these special parties. If you do not have a ticket, a huge muscular bouncer will throw you out of the party.
The problem is this world is many people find importance in making money to pay their way into special events. They want to go to all the movies, sporting events, and concerts they can buy their way into. Sometimes, people are willing to give up everything they own to get into a party of a music star, movie star, or other special or famous person. Worldly things become the most important thing to them. They fail to see the bigger picture. They fail to see eternal life and the importance of having the ticket that will get you through the gates of Heaven.
How do you get your ticket to heaven? “All have sinned and have fallen short of the Glory of God” (Romans 3:23). We are all sinners, but this ticket that gets us through the gates of Heaven is free of charge. It is the most important ticket you will ever receive and it is free. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). Jesus died on the cross at Calvary and spilled his blood to cleanse all of us from our sins. He paid the price (in full) for all of us. To get this ticket to heaven you have to admit you are a sinner and turn away from your sin. “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” (Acts 3:19) Believe Jesus died on the cross to save you from your sins and give you eternal life. (John 3:16). “For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” Come to Jesus In Faith. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”(John 14:16). Confess your decision to other believers. “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 220:9, 10) Become a baptized believer. “Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” (Romans 6:3, 4)
When you reach the gates of Heaven, you will need your ticket to get in. Your ticket cannot be bought by good works. Your ticket cannot be bought by living a good life. You cannot get your ticket by giving all of your money to the poor. You will not get a ticket to Heaven by killing people in the name of God. You will not be able to steal your ticket to Heaven. Your ticket cannot be forged. You cannot sneak into heaven through the back door. Your ticket to Heaven has already been bought and paid for. Jesus paid for your ticket to Heaven with his blood. He died on the cross for the whole world. Jesus rose after three days in the grave. He defeated death and Satan. Jesus is now sitting on the right hand of God. Jesus already bought your ticket to Heaven. All you have to do is accept your ticket to Heaven freely from Jesus. Yes, you will have to give up your old life and live for Him. Yes, you will have to do good works and give money to the poor. These things are part of living your life as a Christian. They don’t save you or give you a ticket to Heaven. Living as a Christian is part of your changed life.
When you get to the gates of Heaven, you had better have your ticket. I have my ticket to Heaven. I did not deserve the ticket, but it was given to me as a free gift from God. When we reach the gates of heaven, God will look at all of the things we have done. We have all sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. God will check and see if we have our ticket. He will look at our ticket. If our ticket is stamped by the blood of Jesus, we will be allowed to enter the gates of Heaven. If you do not have a ticket to Heaven, what you did in your lifetime will be the final test. None of us are able to pass the God’s test through anything we have done in our lives. Therefore, if you do not have a ticket to Heaven, you will not be allowed to enter through the gates of Heaven. Remember, your ticket to Heaven if free. All you have to do to get through the gates of Heaven is to accept this wonderful gift from God. 22I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Romans 21:22-27).
