The City of Sunnyvale is holding a shredding event on December 18th, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the SMaRT station for Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, and Mountain View residents only. Residents may shred up to five banker size boxes or paper bags of personal documents. Shredding is a safe way to dispose of documents that contain personal information and keeps your private information out of the hands of identity thieves.
Proof of residency in one of the three cities will be required in order to shred documents at the quarterly shredding event. The event is for residents only and businesses will not be admitted. In addition to reducing clutter and freeing up more space in your residence, shredding documents reduces the amount of paper that ends up in landfills.
Volunteers will help guide residents through the shredding event process. Documents may have paperclips, staples, or rubberbands on them. However binders and binderclips are not allowed because they could cause damage to the shredding equipment. All of the shredded documents will be recycled into paper products.
