Unfortunately many young teens experience low self esteem issues and though it may take years to get over feeling good about yourself is a great start of letting that go. The reason for low self esteem may come from appearance, being tease or feeling like an outcast. That doesn’t mean you should feel any less about yourself. 9 out 10 teens especially girls experience low self esteem from junior high school until high school. These are the years where puberty and appearance come in. The issue is we tend to feel insecure when we see a girl walk around with a better body or for guys when they see guys with the ultimate I have to have body. Low self esteem comes from not having enough confidence about you. Then again no one is born with 100% confidence; it’s something you must build. In order to have confidence you must figure out what makes you different and special. Everyone has flaws without a doubt, but there is something in each and every one of us that makes us special “flaws and all”. You have to start setting goals for yourself and becoming more one with what makes you special. In order to have confidence you must have respect for yourself and carry it out so that others notice as well.
Low self esteem can happen at any given point in life, doesn’t only have to be as a teen. You must know having low self esteem can get the best of you. To be able to recognize the signs of low self-esteem you must first begin to realize how you respond to different situations. How do you feel when you’re around other people? Do you feel everyone is pointing at you or looking at you differently? Do you feel that you can be yourself or must you hide in a shell? In order for your low self esteem to go away you must stop thinking negative. Tell yourself every day you are strong, beautiful or whatever it is that causing you to feel this way. Most of the time once you keep telling yourself something you begin to believe it and it will show. Every time you face a different situation be brave enough to handle it the opposite way of how you would of if you let your self esteem take over. Don’t listen to what others say of you because truth be told even the prettiest girl or handsome guy has insecurities and low self esteem about something they’re just not showing it. When you can show others that you are proud of yourself, they will begin to respect you. But it all starts with you.
