I love to cook and enjoy planning the weekly meals, shopping for ingredients and then preparing dinner for my family each night. In a perfect world, I would be always have the time and the funds to prepare home made dinners from scratch for my loved ones. Unfortunately, that is just not possible these days so I do have to rely on quick and inexpensive dinners some nights, to get everyone fed on time. I always try to offset those meals with salad or fruit for dessert so the entire meal is not prepackaged ingredients that are overflowing with Fat, Sodium and preservatives. I recently prepared and served Double Cheeseburger Macaroni Hamburger Helper to my children on one particularly hectic weekday evening. Here are my opinions on this product.
Double Cheeseburger Macaroni Hamburger Helper cost me only a few pennies over one dollar for a five point two ounce box. Combined with a pound of ground beef that was around four dollars, I was able to feed both my children and myself dinner. The salad I served alongside it was another few dollars, of course, but theoretically I could have fed three people dinner for a little more than five dollars. Not bad.
Preparation of Double Cheeseburger Macaroni Hamburger Helper is very simple to prepare. After browning the ground beef and draining the fat, the meat then gets added to one cup of hot water, two cups of milk, the enclosed sauce mix and uncooked pasta. After heating to boiling, the heat gets reduced and the food is allowed to simmer for about ten minutes. After removing the pan from the heat source, the sauce thickens up nicely and the meal is ready to serve. The entire process takes a little over twenty minutes.
Each one prepared cup of Double Cheeseburger Macaroni Hamburger Helper contains three hundred and ten calories with one hundred and twenty calories from Fat. There is one gram of Fat in each serving, six hundred and forty milligrams of Sodium and forty five milligrams of Potassium. There is also three grams of Protein, four percent of Vitamin A, ten percent of Calcium, ten percent of Iron, and fifteen percent of Folic Acid. There are certainly some nutrition in this product, but it is indisputable that the Sodium content is too high to enjoy on a regular basis.
I did really enjoy the taste of Double Cheeseburger Macaroni Hamburger Helper. This is definitely what one could consider comfort food. The sauce was very cheesy and flavorful and the beef and the noodles were hearty and filling. My younger daughter absolutely loved it, and was eager to take over the remaining food in her sister’s bowl. Although I certainly wouldn’t make this an every week meal, I could definitely see serving Double Cheeseburger Macaroni Hamburger Helper on a cold winter afternoon or a rainy evening. Combining this product with a healthy salad and a loaf of whole grain bread makes for a very satisfying and more balanced meal.
