Value is intrinsic. More often people would rather part with an expensive new thing than something with sentimental value or that has been in your family a long time. Still, no matter how valuable, some people just like to wear nice things.
And criminals like to prey on these people.
While it’s unclear if this object had any sentimental value, from the report of the victim the yellow chain which was ripped from his person certainly had monetary value; $1,600! Which begs the question; why does anyone wear anything which has any monetary value?
According to reports from Brooklyn Paper (1) “Two punks pulled a razor on a guy and stole his chain on October 17. The victim told cops he was at the corner of Fulton and Jay streets at around 6pm when the perps pinned him up against a wall and punched him in the face. They then pulled a razor and ripped off his yellow chain valued at $1,600.”
While police are on the case, finding something as oblique as a yellow chain is tough. Which begs the question…
