Clinton Hill is a neighborhood composed of families with children. Unfortunately, a lot of non-family friendly activity has been taking place in Clinton Hill. A group of boys have basically set up shop at the corner of Fulton Street and Clinton Avenue to deal drugs. They are there every morning from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and are undisputedly selling drugs. (Money and “bags” exchange hands between the boys and their customers.) While they wait for their customers, these dealers even get their work out in. They bring weights with them to the corner and use the walk/no walk signals to do pull ups.
Apparently, the police officers at Clinton Hill’s 88th precinct are not motivated to do anything about this behavior. In response to calls reporting this behavior, they have said that the drugs must be heroin because it is being dealt in the morning and that because it is narcotics it is “out of their hands.” Very encouraging… They’ll issue a citation for parking a minute passed the allotted time, but deal drugs blatantly out in broad daylight and get off scott-free. That seems fair!
If the 88th precinct won’t do anything, the question goes out to residents of Clinton Hill — What are you going to do about it? I’m not advocating citizens take stopping these drug dealers into their own hands, but perhaps some serious pressure needs to be put on the cops at the 88th precinct to let them know that this is not okay.
