Duncan Hines Brownies Triple Chocolate Decadence includes European style chocolate in chunks rather than chips. For my review of the Duncan Hines Brownies, I wanted to see if the brownie would go over well for my son’s bake sale at school.
We were looking for bake sale ideas which would be quick and easy since my son waited until the last minute to tell me about the bake sale. Plus, he wanted to do the baking himself.
I know from experience brownies are a bake sale favorite. The Duncan Hines Triple Chocolate Decadence turned out to be one of the best brownie mixes for a bake sale because it was fairly fool proof.
If you are making the brownies at home, I suggest serving hot with ice cream such as Breyers or Ben & Jerry’s.
Here are some things I learned about the Duncan Hines Brownies Triple Chocolate Decadence from my review:
No. 1: Lightly spray the bottom of an 8 x 8 foil decorative disposable pan (the kind with a plastic lid) so the Duncan Hines Brownies Triple Chocolate Decadence brownies do not stick when people at the baked sale go to cut them up into pieces. Or they may decide to sell the entire pan of brownies if you bake them in the decorative foil disposable pan.
No. 2: Duncan Hines brownie mix directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir the Duncan Hines Brownie mix with 1/4 cup water and 1/3 cup oil and 1 egg for fudgy brownies. Most people prefer fudgy brownies, but if you want a cake-like brownie, use 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons of water and 1/4 cup oil. Bake for 35 to 38 minutes. I use a wooden tooth pick to test to see if the brownies are ready.
No. 3: Duncan Hines brownie calories: One serving, which is 1/16 of the package, contains 180 calories with 8 grams of fat and 18 grams of sugar.
No. 4: Bake sale pricing for the Duncan Hines Brownies Triple Chocolate Decadence: For an entire 8 x 8 disposable pan, charge about $7. For individual brownies, which should be cut in generous portions, charge $1 each or 50 cents each for smaller sizes. The goal with a baked sale is to raise money but also avoid the hassle of dealing with small change.
No. 5: Tip for how to make the best brownies: Don’t over bake. For an extra special occasion, top the brownies with a crème de mint frosting made of powdered sugar, crème de mint liquor and butter. Then top with a layer of melted chocolate chips with a tad of butter. The chocolate coating with firm up. Refrigerate. Be as creative as you want with toppings!
Other bake sale ideas include making cookies, cupcakes, miniature cheesecakes with vanilla wafers as the “crust,” and mini strawberry shortcakes (wait to add whipped cream until item is purchased). People usually go for the pumpkin bread, banana bread and carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting in addition to decadent brownies such as the Dunkin Hines triple chocolate.
I can definitely say the Duncan Hines Brownies Triple Chocolate Decadence was one of the best brownie mixes I’ve tried. The directions were super easy for a child or teenager to follow. The chunks of chocolate melted in your mouth. The brownie was soft, fudgy and delicious-a major bake sale hit!
