Dunston Checks In, starring Jason Alexander and Rupert Everett, is fun entertainment for the entire family. This movie came out in 2006. I usually do not like to see a movie more than one time. For some reason I do not mind seeing this one over and over again.
Jason Alexander, who is the manager of a five star hotel, has two sons and all three live in the luxurious hotel. There are people that come in from time to time to rate the hotel. They are trying to keep their five star rating. Once Dunston, the orangutan, checks in, things do not go well for the hotel at all. Jason’s two sons, do not help the situation either.
Dunston checks in to the hotel with his trainer, Rupert Everett. Evidently, he is not too nice to Dunston. He threatens him with a sword and already has killed Dunston’s brother. Dunston has been trained to steal jewelry and other valuables. Once the trainer and Dunston check in, they both find out which rooms are empty.
Dunston does steal jewelry from one of the rooms. Then he goes back to his trainer to show everything he got. While in the hotel room, Dunston bites his trainer’s ear and escapes. Jason’s sons finally meets up with Dunston and they come to learn that he has a very cruel trainer. They do their best to hide Dunston from him. His trainer knows that these two boys have Dunston with them. At one point, he ties up Jason’s son in the bathtub, but eventually he breaks free.
The movie ends with a luxurious dinner but Dunston and Jason’s two sons end up ruining everything. Dunston ends up on the chandeliers and goes underneath the tables and eats people’s food. Eventually the trainer gets arrested for treating Dunston the way he did.
There is humor all throughout the movie. It runs for about an hour and a half. This is great entertainment for the entire family. If you are looking to spend a fun family night together, this is one movie that you could watch.
