Margaret Cho’s “DWTS” 11 dance routine was the Samba and she had a message for the gay community – pride. With story week the primary focus on “Dancing with the Stars” in week 3, Cho chose to don a wild rainbow colored dress and send a message of pride for the gay community.
When Len Goodman said in the judging session he didn’t understand the story, Cho said it was about having pride while people are criticizing you. At that moment, people were booing, but it was hard to tell if it was at what she said or if Len didn’t initially comprehend the entire routine.
“DWTS” 11 Judges Scores and Comments for Margaret Cho:
Carrie Ann, Score 6: Loved rainbow, loved story. Lost control as she was unleashing “the beast.” Work on arms and lines, have more grace in upper carriage.
Len Goodman, Score 6: Felt encouraged at the start of the dance. Good rhythm and hip action, lost timing, heavy in the legs as dance went on.
Bruno, Score 6: Said good for her. Looked like she had too many drinks. Footwork timing off.
At the end of it, Margaret Cho told “DWTS” host, Brooke Burke, that she wanted to celebrate pride with the tough times the gay community is experiencing. With a flurry of tragic suicide rates among teens, Cho felt it was the right thing to do.
Her message was well received, but her routine was not, still maintaining one of the lowest scores so far in season 11 of “Dancing with the Stars.”
