One of the most uncomfortable feelings about having a cold or sinus infection is when the sinus cavities get irritated and clogged. A person will spend numerous hours blowing his/her nose and taking medication to unclog those cavities. A clogged sinus cavity can be be cleaned out with a sinus wash; these can be purchased in any pharmacy store such as Walgreens. These sinus washes can be expensive and will need refill packets. For a fraction of the cost of a new one a person can make his/her own sinus wash.
To make this wash, first you’ll need a bottle that water can be squeezed out of. A perfect example would be one of those red ketchup or yellow mustard bottles that can be found in some restaurants. Most dollar stores will have this type of bottle. Make sure to clean the bottle completely. Once clean, fill the bottle with warm water and, if needed, a sinus wash. This mix can be added to the water.
When the bottle is filled, bend over the top of a sink and gently squirt the water into each nostril to flush the sinus irritation away. Be sure to gently squirt the water as not to damage the sinuses. This process can be repeated as many times as necessary. Most sinus wash manufactures recommend a minimum of two times per day.
