You get what you pay for, especially when it comes to beauty products, right? Wrong. ELF Cosmetics is an affordable brand of quality, cruelty-free makeup products. One of their star products is the Under Eye and Concealer and Highlighter duo available in their Studio line.
ELF Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter is a dual purpose product. It comes in a double sided tube. On one side is a concealer, which comes in three colors: fair, light, and medium. The other side of the product is a highlighter that is a cream-like consistency. Both products have their own application wand built right into the tube.
The concealer is a thick consistency. It is easy to apply with the built in wand, and once on the skin, blends easily. This is an important quality, as the skin under your eyes is very delicate and should be handled with extreme care. This concealer does a good job of covering light to moderate under eye circles, which this mom of two appreciates! The concealer is very moisturizing, and also contains products found in eye creams, such as caffeine and vitamins A and E. The only downfall to this under eye concealer is that if it is not set with some kind of powder, it doesn’t have much staying power. I use another ELF product, the Complexion Perfection powder compact, to set the concealer and help it last all day. The Complexion Perfection compact has four different color powders in it, and I use a small fluffy brush to apply a touch of the yellow and a touch of the pink powder over the under eye concealer. Using these colors helps correct the purplish under eye circles so that they disappear.
The highlighter is the other half of this great product. It is white, but has some luminescence to it, so it reflects light. Highlighters should be applied to the high points of your face to help accentuate them. A little bit of this product goes a long way, so I use a tiny bit under each eyebrow, a dab on the bridge of my nose, and blend some into the high points of my cheeks. You can also apply this highlighter to the inner corner of your eyes. The light reflecting property of this highlighter will help illuminate the inner corner of your eyes, making them appear brighter.
You would think this dual purpose product would be expensive, but it isn’t at all. It currently retails on the ELF website for $3. If you become a fan of ELF on Facebook, they frequently post coupon codes and free shipping promotions that can make the Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter even more affordable. This is one of my go-to products that I use everyday, and I can tell you that I would pay a lot more money for concealer of this quality. Give it a try- at $3 a pop, you don’t have much to lose!
