Enjoy the moments, as they are soon gone forever! The dynamic creation throws up myriad moments of ecstasy, soon followed by despair, triumphs followed by defeats; we have to keep rising-up and face the challenges, by the day. Nobody is alone in this basic reality of life, as even other creations have to fend-off foes and the elements. But, being at the apex of creation, at least for the moment – as some fear aliens can make their presence felt anytime – we should be able to lessen the impact of the negatives! But why worry, they also are sure to bring along some good tidings and when can survive our own, we should be able to get the better of them & get good bargains!
We see people around us mired in the harsh realities of life; as despite our obvious scientific progress, we cannot master our minds. It plays tricks on us, keeping us on tender-hooks all the time. But look no further, don’t we also have amongst us some for whom life looks to be a cake-walk? They need not be rich, but they have the ability to treat both triumphs & defeats all the same; two sides of the same coin! But the rest, alas, are overwhelmed by the uncertainties, and the fast changing challenges of modern life. Most just react to the happenings, classifying subconsciously as good & bad, and bemoan their state of affairs by highlighting the negatives. We feel life is harder on us than on others, who seem to enjoy an easier ride, at least outwardly!
I have found in my observations that life rests lightly on those who accept with equanimity what life has to offer; good times will not last and, fortunately, the bad ones too! In fact, they learn more from the reverses and get better prepared for the future. A successful businessman has his fingers on many pies, but was enjoying the experiences all the same! He has his words of wisdom; he accepts life has been fair to him generally and readily admits to anyone. Why spread the negative vibes, as some do; despite getting richer over a period of time, they highlight the difficult times only, especially to their employees! The word goes around, spreading the unhappiness!
I have found those who succeed are able to plan, focus and do not repeat the mistakes! Of course, one should also be a team player – easier said, when we feel most others are obnoxious! Some tend to go overboard when their wealth increases beyond their needs; rather than taking their foot off the pedal, they tend to over-do at the cost of family life! Wealth is only a means to an end of leading a comfortable life and to do good to society in general, but soon it enslaves, ending with single minded pursuit, at the cost of all others.
I have seen some, from different walks of life, at great peace with themselves; they have equilibrium in thinking followed by action to attain a goal of detachment – we come with nothing & take away also nothing, leaving only memories, hopefully to savor! We make the best use of opportunities in the circumstances and the end result is not decided by us, we can aim to climb a mountain but we end up with a hill!
We are all endowed in our own way; getting rich needs some luck, the killer instinct and of course, hard work and focus! We can make our own choice to make the ride comfortable both for us and for the dear & near ones! No need to get ahead leaving all others, including our families, way behind! If we do not enjoy what we do, there is no point in continuing with such a journey; accept the reality, cut losses and find our equilibrium. As one doctor reminisced that the dying hardly care about their status or wealth when in their last days, they want to be surrounded by love, which even the poor are able to muster and in abundant measure! A life of meaning, true to oneself, will be worth every moment both for the person, and their families & others he or she touched during the days in this planet. And also a life lived in happiness, as only a happy person can spread that basic ingredient to others and make it multiply manifold!
