Eric Clapton has been giving us awesome riffs and lyrics for years. He has always been proud of his guitar playing. Eric Clapton enjoys the concept of entertaining his fans. You have to wonder though after hearing Eric Clapton criticize his own singing voice in recent years whether or not Eric Clapton is really having fun doing the work of being an artist however.
The singer recently said in an interview that he sounds like a sixteen year old boy when he swings. You have to wonder whether some of this self loathing will possibly lead to an early semi-retirement for a guy like Eric Clapton, but I doubt it.
Some older musicians like John Mellencamp have been setting fairly low ticket prices in recent years and eating the losses in many situations partially due to the fact that they admit they may not be able to entertain and draw people in like they did in the past. Clapton may start to lower his ticket prices if he happens to get annoyed enough with his own voice.
Clapton has not hidden his love for guitars, in fact his love for guitar music and blues music, strictly the music may be exactly why he downplays his own singing voice so much. The fact that one of Eric Clapton’s guitars sold for over nine hundred thousand dollars happens to maybe explain why he happens to love guitars so much. Clapton happened to give the money from the sale of the guitar to the non-profit corporation that he founded.
This is something that happens to be a part of the yearly Crossroads Guitar Festival. Crossroads is the drug and alcohol treatment center that Clapton runs as noted on the Crossroads Guitar Festival website.
