The Castro District’s Eureka Valley Library will host Ellen Harden, a veteran San Francisco Museum of Fine Arts docent since 1979. Ms. Harden will be giving her lecture “Van Gogh, Gaugin, Cezanne and Beyond: Post Impression Masterpieces from Musee d’Orsay.” This is a lecture is currently given at the San Francisco de Young Museum with the current exhibit under the same name, and coming to the Castro District for one night.
The Post Impressionist collection to be discussed at the Eureka Valley Library will be from the Musee d’Orsay. Located on the left bank of the Seine River, the Musee d’Orsay has the most impressive collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings in the world. The Van Gogh, Gaugin, Cezanne and Beyond: Post Impression Masterpieces from Musee d’Orsay is from its permanent collection, and San Francisco’s de Young Museyn is the only stop in North America.
Ellen Hardin will be bringing her insights on the Post-Impressionist collection into the Castro community. The free Eureka Valley Library lecture is on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 7pm. The Van Gogh, Gaugin, Cezanne and Beyond: Post Impression Masterpieces from Musee d’Orsay will be at the de Young Museum until January 18, 2011. Admission to the exhibit at the de Young is $20, but lower rates for seniors, students, and youths, but the lecture is free.
