President Bush was our President for eight years. He ended his presidency as an unpopular president and many people believed he failed as a president. The nation and the world are now discussing and debating his presidency. The Associated Content Community should be part of this discussion, just as we were part of the discussion and debate about the midterm election of November 2, 2010. We invite your comments on this article and your articles on the Bush Presidency.
Former President Bush is back in the news as he just released his new book. He is launching a publicity tour for the new book that includes a prime-time network special and a visit with Oprah.
The book and his interviews offer new insights into Bush’s presidency, but show a familiar certainty that demonstrate he still believes in the major decisions he made.
The Iraq Invasion
On the decision to invade Iraq, Bush implied that he would do it all over again. In an interview with Matt Lauer of NBC which aired on Monday, November 9, 2010, Bush instantly defended his decision to invade Iraq. Bush said the world is definitely better off without Saddam Hussein in power, as are the 25 million Iraqis who now have a chance at democracy, a chance to live in freedom. Many have questioned if invading Iraq is the best way to fight terrorism. Some believe we should emphasize our advantage in naval and air power to win the war on terrorism and limit our casualties at the same time.
Vice President Chaney
There was some serious drama in the White House when Bush considered replacing Vice President Chaney on the ticket when he ran for re-election. The idea of replacing Chaney, came from the Vice President himself.
