The Lemonade Diet is one of the oldest diets that are still around and still very popular. It is also known as the mastercleanse diet.
One of the reasons for its popularity is that many celebrities have endorsed it. Recently, Beyonce claimed to have lost 20 pounds while being on it.
However, it was not originally developed as a diet. It was originally developed to be used as a quick detoxification or cleansing tool to help the body rid itself of harmful chemicals and toxins. Now it is considered a quick way to lose weight.
What is the premise of the plan?
One basically drinks a lemonade type drink for ten days and this will help you lose weight, feel better and look better.
The lemonade drink is not your grandmother’s sweet lemonade that you loved as a child. This lemon drink is made from:
• 2 tablespoons of organic lemon juice
• 2 tablespoons of organic grade b maple syrup
• 1/10 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
• 10 oz. of filtered water.
You are to drink 6 to 12 glasses of this drink per day, every day for 10 days straight.
What else do you eat and drink?
You are allowed a small amount of fruits and vegetables while on the diet. If you actually buy the book that the diet promotes it will tell you in more detail about the types of fruits and vegetables that it is recommended.
What is supposed to happen to the body during these ten days?
The body is supposed to rid itself of unwanted waste and toxins that it has been building and storing for years. This is supposed to make the body feel better towards the end of the diet and even have extra energy. Some have reported that many of health ailments have been elevated and some of their body aches have gone away, as well. Of course, weight loss is the main reason people have tried the diet and many have reported weight loss of ten to more pounds.
What do doctors say about the diet?
The site known as webmd states that the reason many has lost weight on this diet is because they have eaten little to no food while being on it. It also stated that people can expect to feel faint, dizziness, headaches, and digestive problems while be on it. It also states that there is no medical evidence that supports the fact that cleansing or fasting will rid the body of toxins that have been stored for years.
Diet experts on the site also wonder how people will eat after those ten days are up and how this will end up affecting their overall weight.
The bottom line is that possibly a fast such as the lemonade diet could help you lose weight quickly for a special event, yet it may not have any lasting effect on your weight. For this reason, you may want to think long and hard before you torture yourself for ten days. Yet, this is only one writer’s opinion.
