For any major sporting event, determining where to host the event is crucial to the success of it. The host city needs to be adequately prepared to handle the influx of people, as well as have the proper facilities and amenities available to guests traveling from out-of-town, out-of-state, and even out-of-country. Having made numerous trips to Dallas while my father was stationed on an army base in Texas, plus a handful of trips since then, I believe Dallas is the perfect location for the 2022 World Cup.
The Dallas/Forth Worth area has a great number of hotels, motels and other accommodations for visitors to the city who require lodging. Many cities have decent amounts of lodging available, but Dallas has an exceptional amount of facilities making it ideal for travelers. These facilities range from more economic accommodations, to more luxurious accommodations. Either way, there are plenty of options when it comes to lodging for guests with varying budgets.
Dallas has a a large amount of public transportation available, making traveling between in-city destinations easy and affordable on visitors. Visitors have the option of cabs, taxis, buses and even car rentals; all at very reasonable prices. Even the buses in Dallas have a large variety of stops and routes, making it even easier (and more affordable) to get places.
Dallas has great weather, making it more attractive to visitors from all over the world. The weather is usually warm, even hot. Occasionally it clouds over and rains. However, it’s a rare day to see Dallas ever get truly cold. This climate is likely to be more attractive to visitors from both warmer and colder climates alike.
Dallas is home to two stadiums, the Cowboys Stadium and the Cotton Bowl. Both stadiums have a history in the world of soccer, with the Cotton Bowl having been used for six matches for the FIFA World Cup in 1994 and the very first game ever hosted in the Cowboys Stadium after its completion in 2009 was a soccer game; the CONCACAF Gold Cup of 2009.
There is no shortage of dining establishments in Dallas. From ethnic, to fast-food, to cafe, to classy; Dallas has it all. With so many different types of food to choose from, visitors are sure to enjoy themselves and their taste buds will never grow bored!
Dallas is a great location for the 2022 World Cup for many reasons, however, the biggest reason of all is the extent of sports enthusiasm shown by the local residents. Out of all the cities I have ever been to, I have never seen a city so enthusiastic and supportive of sports, especially soccer, as I have seen in Dallas. For this reason, the residents of Dallas are likely to be very open to hosting the game and will enjoy the games, as well as the boost to the local economy that the attention of the games will provide.
