QB: Matt Hasselbeck may have put up some big numbers for your team in the past, but please try to stay away from him this year. Matt’s career is winding down and I just don’t see him as being a threat anymore. There has even been talk this off-season that Charlie Whitehurst might even challenge for the job this year. Consider this your warning.
RB: Now I know it might be a toss up between Justin Forsett and Julius Jones, but I’m leading towards Forsett on this one. I have a feeling that by the end of the season he will be getting a majority of the carries, although the Seahawks seem to be set on having a running back by committee. If you’re league is not to deep, I would go ahead and pass on a Seattle running back only because there probably won’t be any of them getting 95% of the carries. If you’re going to draft one of them, draft them low!
WR: I’m expecting T.J. Houshmandzadeh to have a solid, not huge, but solid year again. While I know he doesn’t have an elite quarterback to throw to him anymore, but he’s still going to get his catches. I would select him as the #2 or #3 option for your team because he is not top receiver anymore. Like I said though, he will still get his catches because he is the #1 target in Seattle.
TE: John Carlson intrigues me. He’s a big kid that seems to do everything well. Now I wouldn’t take him early, but I honestly think this is going to be a breakout year for the kid. With Hasselbeck getting older, he’s probably going to be looking to dump it down to his TE’s early and often. In a deeper league Carlson is easily a starter, but he’s not elite yet. Check back with me next year so I can say I told you so on this kid. Maybe not, but it all sounds good right?
Defense: No, just no. I’ve never been too keen on the Seahawks D. There’s going to be so many average to good defenses this year, so no point in even getting into their defense.
Sleeper/Keeper: Golden Tate might be a guy you want to grab if you’re in a keeper league. Tate is a playmaker, and he showed that off at Notre Dame. With T.J. losing more and more each year, Tate is a fresh face that has the chance to be electrifying at the next level.
Not much to say about the Seahawks. I like Pete Carroll as a coach, but I think it’s going to take a few years. This year might be a waste, and I’d like to see a QB chance with someone younger getting some reps. There is probably not too many people on this team you’re going to want to draft, unless you want a 78-year old QB. I’m only kidding as I have always been a fan of Matt’s , but there are better options out there.
