Its that time of the week again for our fantasy football adds and drops for NFL Week 9.
Week 9 Fantasy Football Adds:
Dan Carpenter (K): Very rarely do I mention kickers in this column but Carpenter deserves mention due to the insane amount of field goals he has been supplying lately. Carpenter is coming off a 5/5 game and he plays in an offense that tends to bog down in the red zone. If he is sitting on your wire, snatch him up quick.
Matthew Stafford (QB): Stafford has always had the talent but he has never been able to stay healthy. He came back last week after missing every game since the opener with a bum shoulder and responded with a huge 4 TD performance. With weapons such as Calvin Johnson, Brandon Pettigrew, and Jahvid Best, Stafford is set up to serve as a nice fantasy football starting QB the remainder of the year.
Mike Sims-Walker (WR): Sims-Walker found himself dropped in many leagues after his awful start to the season but he has turned it on the last few weeks as the Jaguars offense has been on a hot streak. We all know that Sims-Walker has a knack for getting into the end zone and he even has had PPR numbers the last few weeks. If he was dropped in your league, by all means scoop him up now.
Brandon Jacobs (RB): This is strictly for TD heavy leagues as it looks like Jacobs has gotten back into his groove of being a goal line back. Jacobs has made good on most of his chances to score over the last three weeks and he is starting to show the tough running style that made him a good option when he first got into the league.
Week 9 Fantasy Football Drops:
Jermaine Gresham (TE): Gresham has fallen off the map since his big September. His yardage is poor almost every week and he has not caught enough passes to stay relevant.
Roy Williams (WR): With QB Tony Romo on ice until close to the end of the season, Williams wont get much of a look from Jon Kitna under center. Kitna figures to rely more on Miles Austin and Jason Witten instead of Williams who only started coming on the last few weeks.
Kevin Kolb (QB): It was a nice run but the Kevin Kolb era is almost over for the second time this season as Michael Vick is close to returning to action. Kolb did a very nice job in Vick’s absence and showed the fantasy football world that he has the ability to get the job done when pressed into service. However the total pakage of Kolb is going to go down as a bust for 2010.
Jay Cutler (QB): Cutler has been a joke since coming back from the concussion and he was even struggling before it. The QB position is one that requires a top guy week in and week out due to the fact you only start one so Cutler doesnt fit that bill now. The entire Bears offense is doing poorly right now so cut your losses.
Felix Jones (RB): Enough with the Felix Jones fantasy. Its just not going to happen this year once again. Marion Barber continues to steal carries and he thus wont get his hands on the ball enough to make an impact.
