The Giants shot themselves in the foot and Titans QB Vince Young quieted fears about his ability to play the position. Chris Johnson also get back on track and Steve Smith continued to be a PPR machine. Lets take a look.
New York Giants:
Eli Manning: 34/48 for 386 yards with 0 TD’s and 2 INT’s. Manning is now tied for the league lead in picks which has been killing his overall fantasy football value. The yards and TD’s are going to be solid but as long as Manning keeps throwing INT’s, he wont be able to truly rise to the top level of fantasy passers.
Ahmad Bradshaw: 15 carries for 88 yards with 1 TD and 1 fumble along with 5 catches for 30 yards. Other than the fumble, it was a great day for Bradshaw who ran hard and made a big impact in the passing game. This game shows you the type of games Bradshaw is capable of and he has a great shot to be a very good RB 2 the rest of the way.
Brandon Jacobs: 4 carries for 17 yards along with a catch for 1 yard. This is the last time I am going to be talking about Jacobs until he makes a significant fantasy contribution. The fact of the matter is that he is nothing more than a backup on his own team and belongs in the fantasy football trash bin.
Steve Smith: 9 catches for 103 yards. Smith is a PPR owners dream despite the lack of TD’s. In TD heavy leagues he is not so attractive as Mario Manningham and Hakeem Nicks figure to get most of the red zone looks. Be that as it may, Smith will continue to be the go-to-guy up and down the field for the Giants.
Mario Manningham: 6 catches for 78 yards. Even though he is the 3rd receiver on his own team, Manningham is putting up WR 3 numbers in fantasy football. I still think he is too inconsistent to own long term but for now he is doing well. Take a flier if you are in need.
Hakeem Nicks: 7 catches for 56 yards. No TD’s but a nice haul in receptions. Nicks just has to combine his 4 catch/3 TD games with his 7 catch/no TD games and than we have a star.
Kevin Boss: 3 catches for 88 yards. Nice game here but Boss wont get his hands on enough balls to be fantasy relevant.
Vince Young: 10/16 for 118 yards with 1 TD and no INT’s along with 3 carries for 6 yards. It wasn’t an eye-opening game but Young looked back in control after being yanked last week. He is still best left on the free agent list.
Chris Johnson: 32 carries for 125 yards with 2 TD’s. Whats interesting here is that Johnson really wasn’t very good in the game until he got going with some big late runs to make his line look decent. The Giants bottled him up pretty good and shut him out of the passing game. Whats amazing however is that despite having a “bad” day, Johnson still went over 100 yards rushing with 2 TD’s. He is good.
Justin Gage: 3 catches for 39 yards. Nothing to see here as Gage is not fantasy worthy due to the lack of catches.
Kenny Britt: 2 catches for 26 yards with 1 TD. Britt has the pedigree to be a very good player but immaturity is holding him back which destroys his fantasy value.
