They are also filled with essential vitamins and minerals, and can be part of heart healthy body healthy diet. I am going to show you what you can do to include nuts in your every day diet, and in meal preparation, and help you stay on your diet and meet your weight loss goals.
Nuts and seeds are so great for people who are dieting because they are a snack that is full of protein and fiber. Nuts are actually nature’s single most powerful source of protein, so they are also great for people who are trying to go vegan, or all organic. Eating foods that are high in protein and fiber allow you feel fuller, longer. Grabbing just a hand full of almonds for example in between meals, will satisfy you, verses grabbing some chips full of empty calories. A very common reason that people fall off their diets is because they constantly feel hungry, this helps eliminate this problem.
It doesn’t matter if you prefer almonds, pecans, sunflower seeds, peanuts, or any other type of nuts and seeds, inserting them in these popular diet foods will leave you feeling full all day. You can even get creative and make your own recipes to suit your own tastes.
Breakfast- cereal, yogurt, oatmeal, granola, sprinkled on jelly toppings or butter, baked in muffins, breads, coffee cakes and bagels.
Lunch & Dinner- salads, wraps, stir fry, any “salad” sandwiches, on top of meats, grilled in mixed vegetables, stuffed in meats.
Snacks: handfuls, put in trail mix with berries and pretzels, sprinkled with cinnamon, dark chocolate, or fat free caramel, mixed with fruits.
Although eating nuts is great in moderation, you can’t over do it. A serving of almonds, although heart healthy, does contain 47 grams of fat which is 72% of your daily value. Try adding different nuts into your daily diet, to help you fight food cravings, feel fuller longer, and assist you in losing weight. As always, you should always incorporate exercise with any diet, to achieve the best weight loss results.
