Don’t let shopping for tween or teen girl’s birthday be daunting ! Whether it’s her special day, a holiday, or just for appreciation, here are five simple gift ideas to meet your growing teenage daughter’s needs. Keep in mind that every girl needs five basic things: clothing, accessorizing, listening to music, entertaining, and talking.
First, stop by your local mall and check out the brands she likes or where her friends are shopping at, like for example, “Justice” for tweens (http://www.shopjustice.com/). Keep a minimum budget of at least $50 as most outfits from this store start at $40. Also, note that Justice currently asks your email and address with each purchase, and there’s currently a class action lawsuit against Tween Brands, Inc regarding these privacy issues, which is explained further at http://www.fogelstromsettlement.com/. For $50 purchases, you will receive their JBucks and Justice Fun Cards which can be used to save $25 and $15 towards your future purchases.
Jewelry for Teens
While at the mall, stop by Claire’s accessories or icing Claire’s (http://www.claires.com/) to add jewelry, hats, bags and more to go with that new outfit. You can probably find good bargains here or get her a gift card with at lease $40- $50 minimum.
For older teens, I recommend the brands Quicksilver (http://www.quiksilver.com/), Abercrombie & Fitch (http://www.abercrombie.com/), Urban Outfitters (http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/index.jsp), or Forever 21 (http://www.forever21.com/). If you are not sure about what outfits she likes, get her a gift card from any of these stores, and she will enjoy shopping there even more. Up the minimum amount to at least $80 – $90 for a good birthday outfit. Also, check out the Gap (http://www.gap.com/), The Limited (http://www.thelimited.com/), and Express (http://www.express.com/home.jsp) for great jeans, cool black pants, and tops.
Computers and more
The Apple Store (http://www.apple.com/ipod/ ) is another great store with gift ideas for teens. You can get a basic iTunes gift card here for $60, a 2GB iPod for $49 or 4GB Shuffle for $75. No doubt, if she is a music fan, she will love you for giving her this gift !
Cell Phones and other devices
Finally, for the incessant talkers and texters, there’s a “Simply Everything” plan by Sprint (http://shop.sprint.com/NASApp/onlinestore/en/Action/DisplayPhones) for unlimited Data plus voice, web surfing, email with BlackBerry Internet Services, GPS Navigation, Sprint TV and Radio, unlimited messaging and unlimited talk on their CDMA network for $99.99/month. For GSM, I recommend AT&T’s (http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/welcome/) unlimited talk for $69.99/month with a free phone.
A basic mobile device, a talk plan, an iPod, access to a music database, jewelry, and a great outfit! With fabulous birthday gifts like these, what more would a girl want?
