Yeah, you want to decorate for Thanksgiving but you just don’t want to spend a lot of time and money to do so. You really don’t have to! There are lots of quick and inexpensive projects you can do to give your home a Thanksgiving theme without a lot of hassle. Here are just a few easy projects anyone can do:
Use a large, clear glass container to make a centerpiece for the dinner table. Drip a drop of wax in the bottom of the container and attach a taper candle to it. The wax will help keep the candle standing upright. Around the candle, sprinkle dry beans, tiny pine cones, fake or real leaves or even candy corn. This quick project makes a beautiful Thanksgiving centerpiece that can be disassembled after the holiday.
Instead of a glass container you can use a plate to make a centerpiece. Set a pillar candle in the center of the plate then place fake or real leaves, pine cones and similar things on the plate.
Purchase a bag of artificial, fall leaves at a craft store and you can make any room have a Thanksgiving or fall theme. Set the leaves across the mantle, place them all over the dinner table, and attach them to other objects. Use double-sided tape to stick the leaves to lamps, lampshades, mirror frames, picture frames, candles and more. The colorful leaves cost little but can change many different things in an instant.
The same can be said for a piece of ribbon. When you purchase Thanksgiving-theme ribbon by the spool you can change many objects around the house to give them a fall theme. Tie the ribbon around candles and lamps. Use double-sided tape to attach the ribbon to baskets, cornices, mirror frames and picture frames. Wrap the ribbon around an ordinary candle and it instantly changes to a Thanksgiving candle.
Make unusual but easy décor by starting with thick paper. Fold it in an accordion manner then decorate each section. Use letter stickers to spell out “THANKS” or another message. Or, write a letter on each section with a marker. If you start with Thanksgiving-theme scrapbook paper it’s easy to create a background for the lettering. Make a “WELCOME” sign in this manner or make small versions to use as place markers.
You don’t have to invest a lot of time and money to create a welcoming feeling in your home for Thanksgiving. With a very small investment you can decorate your entire house and do so in minutes!
