Eco-Friendly inventions are all the rage and no wonder. With landfills filling up and smog clogging the lungs of our city dwelling brethren it’s high time we started inventing things that not only help us but help the environment too. In this article I’ll look at five new inventions that make our lives easier while lessening the burden on our environment. Without further ado let’s start the countdown.
At number five we have the strong contender Greensulate. Greensulate is billed as “the most eco-friendly insulation.” Greensulate insulation uses natural materials. Other insulative products are made from petrochemicals resulting in significant CO2 emissions. Greensulate is literally grown by using a growing organism to transform agricultural byproducts like cotton-seed hulls and buck-wheat hulls.
Yourenew is a great new service that lets you recycle or sell your old cell phones, laptops, mp3 players, graphing calculators and tablets. YouRenew.com is there to make sure that you get paid for being good to the environment. They will pay you to recycle. Don’t believe it check out their website. They actually will pay you to recycle your old electronic devices. If the device doesn’t have any value, They will pay for you to ship it to them for recycling. For every device they take in, they contribute to environmental causes.
3. Unamed Eco-Friendly Device That Detects Fire Oubreaks
This new device has not been named yet but it has the potential to save lives. Pascal Katana, a 24 year old engineering student, came up with a special new device that identifies fire outbreaks automatically. His invention features heat sensors that are programmed to identify temperatures that exceed 45 degrees Celsius. As soon as the device detects a fire outbreak, it sends the necessary information to the nearest forest station through a cell-phone.
EcoCradle is a new packaging product that is natural. It is so natural in fact that it is grown not manufactured. Similar to Greensulate it is grown using agricultural byproducts like cotton-seed and buck-wheat hulls. EcoCradle is grown in the dark, with no watering and no petrochemical inputs. It is a quick growing organism. So quick in fact that in just 7 days it produces miles of tiny white fibers which envelope and digest the seed husks, binding them into a strong and beautiful final product. This entire process uses about 10 times less energy per unit of material than the manufacturing of synthetic foams!
1. Orange Power Wellies
Orange Power Wellies may not seem like the greatest invention ever but the technology they use could one day generate a constant supply of power from our own bodies! Essentially they work by using the heat generated by your body to produce electrical current then you can plug in your cell phone and use it from the power stored in your boots! About 12 hours of walking will produce about 1 hour of charge for the average cell phone. Just think in the future maybe everything will run off our body heat!
