Residents are invited to view the latest designs from the Santa Clara County Valley Water District for the flood detention areas at McKelvey Park, Cuesta Park Annex, and Blach School. One community workshop will be held for each area and input from the three November community workshops will be used to update the conceptual drawings. This is a great opportunity to have your views be heard regarding the flood detention areas and their design.
The first meeting is for Blach School on November 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. 1120 Covington Road, Los Altos. The second meeting is for McKelvey Park on November 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the City of Mountain View Council Chambers, 500 Castro Street, Mountain View, and the final meeting will be held for the Cuesta Park Annex area on November 29, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Council Chambers.
Click here to view the conceptual drawings of the detention areas. A flood detention area would temporarily hold water during heavy rainstorms. The water would be released later back into the creek. The Permanente Creek Flood Protection project is part of the Clean, Safe Creeks and Natural Flood Protection Plan that voters approved in 2000.
