Three years ago when Skybus had its $10 airfares my daughter and I decided to take a vacation to Miami. Neither of us had much money but we had gotten a great deal on the airfare, used my sister’s discount on a nice hotel. We had a great start!
While researching Miami on the internet, Mandy found the Miami Go Card smartdestinations.com. The Go Card is a passport to the attractions of a specific city. Once you purchase the card, you have free admission to any of the attractions. The Go Cards are pricey, about $125.00 for three days, but we decided to splurge.
The first day we had a great time on the Duck Tours of South Beach, seeing all the celebrity homes. We saw the beautiful Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. The next day we went on a long bus trip to Key West. I don’t recommend going to Key West on a Monday after a biker weekend. Nothing is open and it’s really not that much fun.
On the last day of our pass we went on an airboat tour of the Everglades. Now granted we did ride on an airboat, and we did see a few small alligators, but as far as the tour goes, it was pretty much going out into the water on the boat and going in circles and making figure 8’s in the water.
Once we were done in the Everglades, we decided to go to Monkey Jungle. I was excited, I love monkeys. We get to the entrance and show our Go Cards but the people at the door seemed very confused. They finally agreed that they knew about the card and let us through the door to enjoy the world of monkeys. It really is a very nice place; there are monkeys all around you. We had been there for about 15 minutes when we saw a man running towards us yelling “hey you, hey you”. The man said to us, “We just found out that we don’t take that card you had and you will have to leave”. And then we were promptly escorted out of Monkey Jungle. We were so embarrassed!
Embarrassing? Yes, but at least it makes a funny story! I mean do you know anyone else that has been kicked out of Monkey Jungle?
