When it comes to activities in the bedroom, silence can be golden. Usually any type of noise will only serve as a distraction and can really ruin the moment.
However, often the right choice of music can help set the perfect mood; before, during and after intercourse.
So whether or not you are seeing someone exclusively, below I’ve compiled a list of four bands and artists that can assist in making your sex life a little more sensual, passionate, and, (dare I say,) special.
1. Christopher O’ Riley
This guy is an amazing classical pianist who has covered everything from Elliot Smith to Mozart to Nick Drake. However, some of his best work can be found on True Love Waits and Hold Me to This; two albums full of Radiohead covers.
While Radiohead themselves indeed have great songs, O’ Riley’s take on the music is more stripped-down, consisting of only him and his piano; no lyrics. These versions are a must-hear for any Radiohead fan, while the songs are a beautiful edition to any bedroom’s playlist.
2. Mazzy Star
Like many talented bands of the 90s, Mazzy Star was unfortunately written off as a one hit wonder. However, the albums they created were unique creations of ambient and psychedelic folk-rock, which no one since has been able to emulate.
Hope Sandoval’s infectious voice and David Roback’s chilling slide guitar are consuming, and their music definitely helps provide the perfect atmosphere for love-making.
3. Thievery Corporation
Thievery Corporation consists of two DJ’s, Rob Garza and Eric Hilton. However, one would never guess this. Their songs are consistently layered and textured with genres and elements of jazz, Indian classical, reggae, bossa nova, dub, ambient and acid jazz, to name a few.
Simply put: The music takes you to a more exotic time and place. You don’t think about the songs; you feel them. It’s the perfect mood-enhancing music when with a partner, as it can be both light and heavy. The variations in the music can also serve as excellent guides for switching positions in the bedroom.
4. Sigur Rós
Although I have no freakin’ idea what they’re saying, I adore this band.
The Icelandic quartet broke into the music scene in 1994, introducing the world to their uniquely experimental and ethereal sound.
Their songs can be dizzyingly upbeat or intensely euphoric, with vocalist Jonsi Birgisson’s falsetto voice perfectly accompanying and absorbing the music.
All in all, if you’re looking for a romantic spin under the sheets with your partner, put on a Sigur Rós CD!
