Every day people suffer strokes and do not realize it. Often strokes are silent. You want to be able to first recognize a stroke in order to diagnose it and get the victim to care as soon as possible. A person doesn’t always die from a stroke immediately. It can happen even hours later.
People do not always die of strokes, often they end up in a helpless condition. If you can get them under medical care withing three hours it is very possible they can fully recover.

S: Ask them to SMILE
T: Ask them to TALK . Ask them the say a simple sentence, such as “
R: Ask them to RAISE both arms above their head
O: Ask them to OPEN their mouth and stick out their tongue.
The new fourth indicator is O. If you stick out your tongue and it’s crooked or is on one side or the other, that is a warning signal.
If the person you are testing has any trouble with any ONE of these easy tasks, they should call a doctor or emergency number immediately and explain what happened and describe what they were having trouble doing.
