Chase away the winter blues with a trip to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Take your wife. Take your kids. Take your husband too. Because everybody is getting up in here for free.
The gardens recently announced that from November through March 11, they will wave the regular $8 entrance fee for weekday visitors. Visit the 100-year-old Brooklyn institution Tuesday through Friday, or on Saturday before noon to receive the special rate.
Any New Yorker suffering from seasonal affective disorder, a lack of fresh oxygen, or the sight of fallen snow five minutes after it hits a New York City street, can have a pleasant restorative stroll through the gardens free of charge.
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden sports more than 12,000 different kinds of plants on its 52 acres of well-manicured vegetative diversity. And not all of it dies during the winter.
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is open every Tuesday through Friday from 8AM to 4:30PM, and from 10AM to 4:30PM on the weekends. It is closed Mondays and on Thanksgiving.
