Looking for a great dish to serve for a football game, party or anytime you want a delicious and hearty meal? Try my loaded bacon and sausage baked beans and you will not be disappointed.
Here is what I use:
1 lb. ground pork sausage (I use the spicy kind from Jimmy Dean)
1 lb. bacon (who doesn’t love bacon?)
1 large onion, finely chopped (I prefer the sweet yellow vidalia)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons yellow mustard (I just squeeze some in and estimate)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 large cans of Bush’s Baked Beans, Homestyle or Country Style
Cook the bacon until it is crisp enough to crumble. Crumble and set aside. Fully cook the ground sausage. Spray a large casserole dish with non-stick spray and preheat your oven to 300 degrees. In a separate mixing bowl or pot, pour in the 2 cans of beans. Add the bacon and sausage, chopped onion (I do not sautee the onion for this dish), and the rest of the ingredients and stir very well. Pour the resulting mixture into your casserole dish, cover and put in the oven for about 1 hour. This makes an unbelievable side dish, or a meal!
Serve with homemade cornbread!
