It’s really a good thing I’m not planning any international travel soon and wanting directions from Google Maps because I may find myself competing alone on the “Amazing Race.” Not only that, having a fear of large bodies of water and drowning doesn’t bode to well with the directions from Google Maps.
Since I would have to journey across the Pacific Ocean using a kayak and a jet ski to get to Japan. Then I would have to use a ferry to cross the East China Sea.
Japan to China
A high school friend pointed out the first funniest Google Map directions. Her travel destination was from Japan to China. The 43 step in the directions involved jet skiing across the Pacific Ocean.
Japan to the United States
I then decided to try it with Japan and the United States. This time the directions involved a kayak and the Pacific Ocean. Not once, but twice do you have to maneuver across the Pacific Ocean to get the United States. Downside, I landed in Washington after making a pit-stop in Hawaii. Rather than Kayaking to Southern California, Google Maps decided to send me to the furthers point during my last leg of the Kayaking journey.
North America to South America
Well, this is just messed up to be quite honest. Yes, I decided I wanted a travel venue from North America to South America. Where did I go? From West Virginia to Kansas. Hmm, the last time I checked, which by the way was during this test, West Virginia and Kansas are on the same land mass. Heck, I always was taught these two states were in the same country, but, hey what do I know? Apparently, according to Google Maps, nadda, zilch.
China to the United States
Although I can’t seem to get from North America to South America, I can get from China to the United States using a ferry, jet ski, and a kayak. Again, I still kayak to Washington to get to the first stop in my journey home.
Other Searches on Google Maps for Directions
Directions couldn’t be given for any of the following destinations because they couldn’t calculate directions between said countries:
Japan to Canada
Japan to Australia
Mexico to Cuba
Cuba to Brazil
United States to Cuba
United States to Mexico
Mexico to United States
This particular search for directions really makes me wonder how citizens from Mexico are finding their way to the United States since there aren’t directions. Do the citizens of Mexico have some decoder ring they use when getting directions from Google Maps?
