The elimination show for week 3 of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ had a few surprises. Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke narrowly escaped being in the bottom two, which was hard to believe considering the sex appeal of their performance on Monday night. It just goes to show that anybody can go home, if the votes aren’t there. Here is a recap of how it all went down.
As if it wasn’t enough to see Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Karina Smirnoff do their ‘bizarre’ dance the first time, we got to see it again on the results show Tuesday night. But, it was obviously enough to keep the fans happy the first go-around, as the Jersey Shore star received enough votes to remain safe for another week.
Regarding outside entertainers, Ne-Yo performed his single “One in a Million” for the first time on live television. The biggest news of the night was Michael Bolton returning to the DWTS stage, to do what he does best – sing! He performed the single “Hallelujah”. It was a beautiful song that was accompanied by a children’s choir. When the camera panned to judge Bruno Tonioli, the look of appreciation on Bruno’s face was priceless.
Mark Ballas showed that he’s more than just a dancer. He is a talented guitarist, too. He and Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s brother, Val, have been dancing competitiors for years. The ballroom rivals faced off on the dance floor, both through music and through dance. It was quite entertaining to see the two perform.
The bottom two couples after week 3 were Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas and Margaret Cho and Louis Van Amstel. But, in the end, the vulnerable but strong comedienne just didn’t have enough votes to keep herself alive. So, Margaret Cho became the third star eliminated from Season 11 of DWTS. The show did a touching montage of Cho as she worked her way through the last couple of weeks. There is no doubt that she found a lifelong friend in partner Louis.
Next week is going to be a first for the show with acoustic night, as Brook Burke indicated. It will be interesting to see who takes the lead, as it’s anybody’s game at this point. Stay tuned for more with week four!
