I have tried several Garnier products, and always seem to be pretty impressed. Garnier Fructis has everything from shampoo and conditioners, to styling products, and now they even have skin products. Of all of the Garnier products that I have tried, they always seem to have three things in common; a quality product, a great scent, and a fantastic value. So when I saw they had a XXL Volume Thickening Mousse, I had to try it.
My hair is about medium length and I tend to wear it differently everyday, depending on what activities I have to do that day. But I am always looking for products that add thickness and volume to my hair, without a lot of effort.
Some of the features of the product that caught my eye, were the of course the bright green container, the “fruit micro-waxes” and the fact that the container claimed to give your hair “All day volume and hold.” I thought it sounded pretty good, and for the price, I couldn’t go wrong. So needless to say, it’s coming home with me.
Upon further inspection of the container, I also noticed the back of label has some good sounding features as well.
According to the back label, Garnier Fructis Style XXL Volume Thickening Mousse is ” A new generation styling mousse, infused with thickening agents, that provides hair with maximum volume and all-day hold.”
Now, time to put it to the test.
I did as the directions said, “Shake well. Hold can upside down and dispense into palm. Apply evenly to damp hair and style.”
When the mousse came out of the container and into my palm, it felt light and airy. It was easy to distribute evenly, and it smelled good too.
After drying my hair, I definitely noticed more thickness and volume in my locks. So I decided to use it for a few more days, to really get the full effect. I also wanted to try styling my hair differently to see how the mousse would hold up to different daily routines and hair styles.
After using daily for three days, I still loved the volume and thickness that it gave my hair. But unfortunately, I also noticed that my hair was getting extremely dry. Without changing anything else in my hair routine, I have determined that the mousse was definitely the culprit.
Overall I think this mousse it great if you are on a budget, and have a conditioner that can balance out the drying effects. It would also be great if you are trying to achieve a certain look for special occasions, and such. But ultimately, I had to stop using it in fear of drying out my hair completely, and now, its time for a deep-conditioning treatment as well.
I picked up my can of Garnier Fructis Style XXL Volume Thickening Mousse for around $3 at Walmart.
