The 40th Annual Oktoberfest in Helen, Ga. is a bonafide crowd pleaser! The Helen Oktoberfest has everything you could want. Music, Beer and Brats all in a beautiful Alpine village setting. The kids will enjoy the authentic costumes, alphorns, accordians and polka. Though there is fun all over the village, the main event can be found in the Helen Festhalle House. Festhalle has long rows of tables for you to enjoy your food while catching some grand entertainment. Oktoberfest runs Sept. 9-19 (Thurs.-Sun.) and every day Sept. 23-Oct.31. The 41st Annual Sorghum Festival of Blairsville is a wonderful event! With the crisp weather and fantastic foliage, a great time will be had by all. Set in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia you will have a blast attending (or entering) the biskit eatin’, pole climbin, rock throwin’ and baccur’ spitting contests. While there, be sure to pick up some of the best Sorghum Syrup in the country.There is plenty more to see and do! This festival is for two weekends only: Oct. 9-10 and Oct. 16-17. Time: 9am-5pm. Oktoberfest on the River (Savannah) – This is the perfect alternative for those of you looking for a true day trip or weekend getaway! Romantic Savannah has an Oktoberfest like none other and it is a FREE event! Located on Historic River Street, you will find Oompah bands, German food, Arts and Crafts as well as tons of fun. This event runs Oct. 1-3. Enjoy Fireworks on the River Friday Oct. 1 at 9:30pm and laugh at the Wiener Dog Races Saturday Oct. 2 at 10am!
