Nothing is worse than what I like to call “french fry” hair. This is when you’re cooking fried foods and the oily odors in the air get in your hair, making your hair smell like fried fish, french fries, or tacos. It’s gross and makes you want to hit the showers. Here’s a great way to get smells out of your hair from either cigarette smoke, vomit, cooking odors, campfire smoke, or whatever sticks to your hair without washing it.
Take a dryer sheet and rub it on your hair brush, then brush your hair thoroughly to comb through the dryer sheet smell throughout your hair. This is another great tactic to rectify static or flyaway hair as well, as the fabric sheet absorbs all the static that is making your hair look like you stuck your face in an electrical socket. If you rubbed too much smell in your hair, turn your blow dryer on a low, cool setting and blow dry your hair to get out the excess scent from the fabric sheet.
You can also spritz your hair directly with lemon or orange or any citrus water. Take an orange peel, place it in a cup of water, and let it sit for 10 minutes or so. You can use any available citrus you have. Pour the citrus water in an available spray bottle, or dip in a used dryer sheet and wring it out and rub it gently on your hair. Spray your hair with a few decent squirts, flipping your hair upside down to get all the hair that stinks and allow to either air dry or blow dry on a cool setting on low. The citrus will absorb the odors in your hair and leave behind a lovely scent.
Don’t just liberally spray hair spray or odor deodorizer straight on your hair or else you will end up with over-smelly, sticky hair. If you want to put a deodorizer on your hair, spray gently a hair brush and comb through your hair, then blow dry once again on a cool, low setting to dry the hair and get out excess covering odors. With any of these tips you should have sweet-smelling hair without having to wash it in no time! Even taking a wet wipe to your hair can work in a pinch, particularly if your hair stinks from sweating all over.
