Glee Christmas Album Release Date Set in November

by bogbit

The Glee Christmas album release date was finally announced last night. The Glee albums have done very well in stores, and a Christmas album surely will do even better when it comes to units sold. The big news is that they have announced the release date, and according to Entertainment Weekly, the new album will be coming out on Nov. 16. This is great news for fans of the show, and will give them a head start on listening to the music that will be featured in one of their December episodes. That Christmas episode is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Maybe the most interesting thing to come along with the release date is the track listing, which features 12 songs that are all performed by cast members. They probably won’t be able to fit all 12 tracks into the Christmas episode, but not all of the songs that made it on to the prior albums were performed during an episode either. We posted the full track list on page two, which was also provided by Entertainment Weekly. In that track list, there are quite a few songs that include nearly the whole cast, and that is great news for fans of characters that don’t always get top billing on the show.

During new episodes this fall, Glee has become one of the most popular shows on television. The show has really evolved from just a cult following to a vast number of viewers, and the last estimates from Nielsen had the show at a 10.97 rating on Oct. 5. The last two episodes have been repeats, so the ratings took a bit of a hit, but the numbers should climb again with the Rocky Horror episode they have planned for Oct. 26. Glee is the second-highest-rated show for its time slot (behind NCIS), but has the highest numbers for the 18-49 demographics on Tuesdays. That is what keeps the advertisers and Fox executives in love with the show.
