If you missed this week’s “Glee”, you should be ashamed! Coach Beiste in pink leotards, teenage sexual frustration, Kurt’s new friend (maybe a new love interest?), football player surprise twist, and of course FANTASTIC songs are only a few of the things you missed this week.
In this week’s episode (Nov. 2, 2010, “Funk”), Finn and Sam decided to imagine Coach Beiste in interesting circumstances (enter the pink leotards and a cheerleading uniform) instead of resorting to the tried-and-true “cold shower” when making out gets a little too hot to handle. This little “cool off” tip spreads like wildfire among the club thanks to Coach Sylvester and her scheming ways. When it gets back to Coach Beiste she confronts Mr. Schuester and makes him explain. Awkward! This leads Beiste to be thoroughly hurt (yup you’re going to feel this one) and causes her to pack her bags.
In the meantime Kurt is beginning to become annoyed with the club and one major football bully. During one of his fed-up moments he sneaks over to a rival school to check out the competition. He is immediately welcomed by Blaine who happens to be a member of their amazing Glee club on top of being a total cutie. After an amazing a cappella rendition of “Teenage Dream”, Kurt is discovered as being a spy. Instead of being beat up by the competition he is instantly accepted and when he feels comfortable, asks the guys he is sitting with if they are gay. Blain admits that he is. The two of them share an empowering conversation that leads Kurt to stand up for himself when he returns to school.
Kurt’s standing up to the football bully exposes the bully’s secret, one that even I didn’t see coming! This twist uncovers the fact that Kurt had never been kissed. Seems like he is not the only one rocking in that boat! When Mr. Shuester attempts to stop Coach Beiste from quitting, it is discovered that part of the reason she is so hurt by all the teasing is because she’s never been kissed. Appearances can be deceiving! Mr. Shuester being the sweetheart he is, lets her be “just a girl” by reminding her that she’s pretty both inside and out and plants a tender kiss on her. With a singing apology from the club Coach Beiste decides to stay and with that decision foils Coach Sylvester’s devious plans.
