This is a great misconception that you need to stop doing certain things before you accept God into your heart, because God wants you just as you are. Once you come to Him and accept Him into your heart, He will clean you up. It is He that can do it. If you could do it by yourself then you would not need Him.
1. Throw Away
Have you seen people that have thrown out pieces of furniture or jewelry that they did not consider valuable, only to have another come along and fix it up, make it beautiful? Well that is what God can do for you. How many wives or husbands have thrown away their spouses, giving up on them only for the thrown away spouses to turn around and give their life to God. Jesus then cleaned them up and they became someone else’s treasure. Galatians (5:22,23) tells us about the great spirit of God which is Love and the characteristics there of.
2. Drug Addict
How many times have there been those whose spirit were broken by drugs. Drugs left them feeling worthless and feeling that no one loved them. Drugs left them feeling they could not do any better in life. Drugs left them feeling that no one could ever love them, only to find that God loved them. God never stopped loving them. Once they came to God, God cleaned them up , and they become someone else’s treasure. Galatians 5:1,13. God wants you to be free of the slavery of drugs. Renew your spirit; that broken spirit Romans 12:2
3. Drug Dealer
I once talked to a friend sent to prison and asked, “Why was there such an attraction to the drugs?” She responded, “I liked the fast money with drugs, the nice cars, all the material things in life that I thought I wanted.” How many times have others felt this same way, only to become broken and in prison. After sitting in confinement day after day, finally discovering and accepting that God wanted them. God had been there all along waiting for them to invite Him into their lives. Once God came into their lives, again I say, God cleaned them up. Hebrews 13:5-6 God will never leave nor forsake you.
How many times have there been those that say, “I have too much sin in my life,:” In fact there have been those that like what they are doing. I once asked my Sunday School teacher, “Since sin is so bad, why does it feel so good?” It was then explained, to me that the devil knows what each person likes and the devil deceives us by using our emotions, because some of us are very emotional. We want to feel good all the time. We want what we want when we want it, but later many have discovered once we give our lives to God, that God will clean us up. We no longer have to try and do it in our own strength. No we will not be perfect, because none is prefect no not one. Romans 3:10, 1 John 3:8
How many times have there been those that say, “The only thing I have is my body to make money.” Or possibly say, who would want me knowing all the men or women that I have been with?” Hosea 4:6 Lack of knowledge. Because of lack of knowledge, prostitutes may have felt “this is all I have, there is no better life.” The prostitutes possibly had tunnel vision, never viewing the big picture, but once they gave their lives to God. God cleaned themed up and they became someone else’s treasure. They discovered God gave them creativeness in their spirit, “faith, conscious, wisdom, creativity, fellowship, worship, and discernment.” They discovered they could do more than prostitution. This prostitution applies to the males prostitutes as well. They also discovered just as God loves them, someone else could love them also.
6. Gang Member
Women and men gang members may have felt this was their family, because no one understood them like the other gang members, only to find that this membership did not give them the inner peace that was missing from their life, it did not take away the guilt that they felt for some of the things they did as a gang member.
They may have realized that they had been looking for LOVE in all the wrong places. But they did find after giving their life to God that God cleaned them up and made them whole again and they became someone else’s treasure. Isaiah 61:1-3 Jesus can mend that broken spirit. Jeremiah 29:11 God wants to give you life more abundantly. A better quality of life.
7. Physically and Mentally Abused.
Some have asked which is worst physical or mental abuse? They both are detrimental to your health. Emotional abuse may or may not be visible to the naked eye, but physical abuse can be very visible. When that woman or man’s spirit has been broken because of abuse, they may say to themselves, “No one could want me” ” I just do not have anything to live for.” But then they discover that once they let God come into their life, God will clean them up. They discover that God loves them and they become someone else’s treasure. 2 Corinthians 4:16 The inward man can be renewed. Hebrews 4:12 The word of God is alive and sharper than a two-edge sword.
Did you know that God used Timothy and he was timid, 2nd Tim. 1:7. Paul exhorts Timothy about being fearful. God used Moses and he stuttered. Moses told God that he really did not feel adequate to talk in front of people. Moses suggested to God to get someone else that could speak better than him. God spoke to Moses about his speech in Exodus 4:10-13. God knew what He was doing. Romans 4:19-10 Abraham’s faith did not waiver when God told Abraham at about age 100 he would father a child with his wife Sarah who also was old in age. Rest assured that God can use you too if you invite Him into your heart. What do you think?
