Recently I have begun to add grapes to my smoothies. My dad calls all my smoothies “kick-a-boo-joy-juice”. Try saying that fast three times. Well after doing a little on-line research on grapes, I discovered the new founded “kick” in my smoothies might just very well be the addition of the grapes.
Did you know that grapes are full of “health benefits”? Grapes contain flavonoids, or very powerful antioxidants, which may reduce damage caused by free radicals. Grapes have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties. They also help to maintain the health of small blood vessels and connective tissue. Wow, So many health benefits from a cluster of grapes.
I love red seedless grapes as a crisp satisfying snack to sooth a sugar craving and was a little hesitant about adding grapes to my smoothies but being adventurous I took the plunge; tossed in some grapes and hit the switch on the Vita-Mix (first making sure the lid was securely on top) I don’t want a repeat of that disaster ever again.
Here is my special “kick-a-boo-joy-juice” smoothie that is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and give you energy that lasts till noon:
• A generous handful of red seedless grapes
• ½ cup apple juice
• ½ cup grape juice
• 1 cup of alkalized water
• ½ cup vanilla yogurt
• Ice cubes
• Optional: a good quality whey protein powder, a powered fiber product like Benefiber, and powered nutritional supplements. I like to drink my nutritional supplements.
