A good quality trail mix can help to keep hunger at bay without having to settle for diet-busting snacks such as chocolate and cake. How does Great Value® Cajun Mix measure up?
Price and Availability
My husband and I were starting to run low on Nature’s Private Reserve™ Deluxe Energy Mix, which is one of the reasons why we started looking around for another bag of trail mix to snack on when we needed a little boost. Then we noticed several varieties of Great Value® trail mixes in Wal-Mart that cost $4.98 for a 907g bag. We settled for a bag of Great Value® Cajun Mix, as my husband is rather partial to hot and spicy food.
Great Value® Cajun Mix is a sweet and spicy blend of tasty ingredients such as peanuts, butter toffee peanuts, Cajun sesame sticks, toasted corn honey sesame sticks and almonds. With so many ingredients, this product seemed hard to resist.
Each 30g serving size of Great Value® Cajun Mix contains 160 calories, 90 of which are from fat, 1.5g saturated fat, no cholesterol, 240mg sodium, 120mg potassium, 14g carbohydrate, 2g dietary fibre, 4g sugar, and 5g protein. Each portion also contains 4% of your daily calcium intake, 4% iron and 20% folic acid. I was pleased with the fact that Great Value® Cajun Mix was not loaded full of fat and lots of sodium, but it is important to keep portions in check if you are watching your waistline.
My husband was the first to try Great Value® Cajun Mix. His initial impression was a good one, but as he started to eat a little further, he had to stop, as he found this product a little too sweet for his liking. When I tried Great Value® Cajun Mix, I had the opposite reaction. My first bite was sweet and the next few mouthfuls were full of bursts of Cajun flavour. Even though I do not usually hanker after Cajun food, I did like Great Value® Cajun Mix. I especially liked how fresh and crisp the peanuts and almonds were.
I thoroughly enjoyed Great Value® Cajun Mix. This is one of the best trail mixes I have tried in a long time. I would highly recommend this product.
