The Great Value Crunchy Honey Oats with Almonds is a Walmart product that greatly resembles the Post Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds. While the Post brand sells for over two dollars a box, the Walmart Great Value brand sells for under two dollars a box. The difference in price does not mean though that there is a difference in quality. What is even more impressive is with the Walmart Great Value, the consumer is getting more cereal for less money. The Great Value Crunchy Honey Oats with Almonds cereal box holds nineteen ounces while the Post Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds cereal box contains just under fifteen ounces of cereal. Quantity, quality and value are thus all words that I would use to describe the Walmart Great Value cereal. There is certainly nothing wrong with the cereal sold under the Post brand as it too is tasty, crunchy as well as filling and satisfying, but if I can save some money by purchasing the less expensive Walmart Great Value product that also happens to come with more cereal, I will, because there is no reason not to since the quality of the two cereals is pretty much equal. If I can find the Post cereal on sale or if I have a coupon, and I am able to get it for less than the Walmart Great Value cereal, then I will, but otherwise I just stick with the Great Value Crunchy Honey Oats with Almonds cereal.
This cereal sold only at Walmart stores mixes almonds with honey-flavored corn flakes and honey-coated oat clusters. The almonds are the crunchiest part of this cereal and unlike the corn flakes, the almonds remain crunchy when milk is brought into the picture. The oat clusters stay pretty crunchy too in milk. It does not take long at all though for the corn flakes to become soggy when milk is added. Not all of the corn flakes are treated with a layer of honey, so there is a mixture of plain corn flakes and honey-flavored corn flakes. That is alright with me because this cereal already has enough flavor to satisfy my taste buds. The almonds are fresh and tasty and the honey-coated corn flakes as well as the honey-flavored oat clusters are both sweet, so this cereal manages to offer a degree of sweetness without crossing into sugary sweet territory. When I have this cereal with milk, I never add any sugar because the cereal is already sweet enough for me. I tend to eat it dry more often though because I do not like what the milk does to the corn flakes and I hate to have to eat the bowl of cereal super quickly in order to try and beat the sogginess before it sets in. This cereal is a satisfying snack and that is how I generally enjoy it. Compared with the Post brand, the Walmart Great Value brand offers roughly the same number of almonds and oat clusters and just as the cereal made and packaged by Post is always fresh and crunchy, the same can be said for the Walmart Great Value cereal, too.
The Great Value Crunchy Honey Oats with Almonds cereal is just as good as the Post Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds cereal. With the Walmart Great Value brand, the cereal costs less and more cereal comes in the box, making it the better choice for those that are looking to save money at the grocery store. Although the savings will only amount to pocket change, the more store brand products you add to your shopping cart, the quicker that pocket change will add up to dollars in savings. Give the store brand products a try now and then, and you may be pleasantly surprised, just as I was, how some products are pretty much identical in quality to what the name brand products offer. That is how I discovered this cereal from Walmart. I just gave it a try, and now, every time I buy a box, I am saving money, and every time I try a store brand product that I end up liking, I stick with it, and the savings just start adding up. It is an easy way to save money during the hard times as well as the good times.
