Great Value Honey Nut Spins is a cereal that looks and tastes just like General Mills Honey Nut Cheerios. The Walmart Great Value brand replicates the sweetness, the crunchiness and the whole grain goodness of the General Mills cereal perfectly and because Walmart is known for its low prices, sells the cereal for under two dollars a box. The box is not small either, as it contains seventeen ounces of cereal. That is a lot of cereal for under two dollars! Walmart certainly duplicated the General Mills cereal with excellent precision and now, unless there is an awful good deal on the General Mills Honey Nut Cheerios cereal somewhere, I just stick with the Great Value Honey Nut Spins because I am getting both quality and value when I purchase a box. The cereal is always fresh and there is a consistent high quality to the cereal that mirrors the consistent high quality of the General Mills product.
Great Value Honey Nut Spins is a cereal that is sweetened with honey. The honey is the primary flavor that this cereal has to offer, but that is okay for me because I love honey. There is a slight almond flavor to the cereal too, although it is not quite as noticeable. The honey makes the cereal sweet, and so, if I have the cereal in milk, I do not add any additional sugar because the cereal is already sufficiently sweet for me. More often though, I prefer to eat the cereal dry. When milk is added, the cereal loses a certain amount of its crunchiness, and the crunchiness of the cereal is one of the reasons I enjoy it as much as I do. Just as the Great Value brand matches the sweetness of the General Mills brand, the Great Value brand also comes across as being just as crunchy as the name brand product it is modeled after. The crunchy, honey-sweetened cereal can be addicting and it does fill me up a bit when I am snacking on it. It is also a tasty, easy way to increase the amount of whole grain oats that I consume on a weekly basis.
Both the Great Value Honey Nut Spins and the General Mills Honey Nut Cheerios cereals are rich in flavor and quite crunchy. The honey and almond flavor combination is one that works and the whole grain oats component to the cereals helps add some nutritional value. The Great Value brand retails for less, but even though it sells for less, the quality of the cereal is just as good as the more expensive national brand by General Mills and the size of the Great Value box is not reduced in order to sell at the price that it does. The one and only thing that the General Mills Honey Nut Cheerios product has going for it over the Great Value product is the promotions that are sometimes included on the box, where prizes can be won. For me though, the promotions are irrelevant and I would rather save money every week by picking up the Great Value product than take a chance on many of those promotions.
