When I ran out of plastic wrap, I decided I was going to try a new brand. The Kroger plastic wrap was very thin and didn’t cling well, but I still wanted to save money by purchasing a store brand. What I ended up with is a fantastic cling wrap, made by Great Value and sold at Walmart stores.
Great Value Premium Wrap is advertised as being “Professional Strength”, and claims that it clings, stretches, and is microwaveable. This is a large package of plastic wrap, a generous 250 square feet. The wrap itself measures 11 7/8″ wide and the roll is 84.3 yards long. I expect this to last a very long time!
There are two sections that you need to open so you can thread the plastic wrap through a slot in the top, then there is a serrated metal cutting edge that quickly and easily allows you to tear off the amount you need. You need to break and tear off the perforation on the top panel, then bend it back. Lift the front flap that reads “Open Here”. Pull the plastic up through the perforated opening, and last insert the panel into the box so that the cutting blade is exposed.
Great Value Premium Wrap is thicker than the other store brand that I purchased last, but I don’t feel it is as thick as Saran Wrap or a type of wrap that I have purchased at Costco stores. It is a medium thickness, but it is very stretchable and it has exceptional cling. The cling factor is the most important aspect of a plastic wrap for me, but being able to stretch it over a plate or bowl without it breaking is also very important.
I paid almost $4 for this package of Great Value Premium Wrap, but it also has more than twice the amount of wrap as a competitor I was comparing it to. Dollar for dollar, this Walmart product was cheaper in the long run. The box is well made, stiffer and thicker than some boxes, and it should hold up well in my kitchen drawer.
There is one complaint I have, and only one, with the Great Value Premium Wrap. When I pull a piece of plastic out, I need to push down on the edge of the package to reveal the metal tear strip, This isn’t a big deal, but it was worth mentioning. I don’t seem to have this problem with other plastic wraps.
All Great Value products are guaranteed to satisfy. If you are not happy with it, simply return it to Walmart with your receipt, and they will gladly refund your purchase price. You can’t go wrong!
