Growing long hair and nails is the dream of every woman, and even the occasional man. We all know that strength leads to length, but what do we choose out of the myriad of options available to us in the store or online? They all profess to be just what our hair and nails need.
Hair and Nail Care. Hair grows and thrives chiefly from electrical impulses sent down the hair shaft. These electrical impulses, not to mention the hair shaft, grow stronger with the correct kind of oil applied to the hair. Each person creates their own special hair product through their scalp oil. This oil is designed and created especially for the health of your hair. No product in the market today will be able to replace the custom-mix of your own hair oil. However, coconut oil comes as close as anyone will get to an outside source. Rather than daily stripping your hair of these natural oils, do not wash your hair. Take a natural bristle brush and spread the oil down the hair shaft to the very tips of your hair. Your scalp oil is the only thing under the sun which can fuse split ends back together. Brush your hair thoroughly and several times throughout the day on a daily basis. The oil production in your scalp will be high at the beginning, since your body is used to being stripped of those oils every time you shampoo. However, once you start allowing the oil to penetrate and stay on your hair, the oil production will drop accordingly, within a week.
Constantly painting and removing nail polish on your nails will strip your nails of necessary oxygen, oil and nutrients which make them strong, flexible and grow long. Get rid of any product on your nails and rub a little coconut oil into your nails. Leave them alone for a few days while eating plenty of protein, such as meat, eggs and cheese, until your protein content in your hair and nails is pretty high.
Hair and Nail Supplemental Treatment. Coconut oil is the next best thing to scalp and skin oil. If you have been regularly stripping your hair and nails of these healthy oils, you will need a temporary substitute to begin rebuilding the shafts and the strength of your hair. Before you do, you will need to wash your hair one last time to remove any hairspray, mousse, or other hair product which may be coating the shafts. If you do not have these in your hair, you may begin without washing. Coconut oil liquefies at body temperature, so dip your fingers into the jar and get some coconut oil, rubbing it all of the way around your scalp with your fingertips. This is the only requirement to rebuild your hair oil. If you decide to cover your hair with this oil, keep in mind that your hair will be extremely oily for quite some time, so you might want to refrain from this if you have a regular job.
Make them shine! Your hair will naturally hold curl if you have been giving it regular oil brushings for the past two weeks. Curl your hair like normal, and ever so lightly brush it out. Then, do not touch it. Your natural scalp oils will act as a hairspray and protect the hair from losing curl even during rain or dampness. Your nails will need to be product free for a while to rebuild their original thickness and strength. Keep them in fresh air and sunshine, and they will grow and grow!
Growing long hair and nails is important to many people. However, ditching the common hair and nail care products can seem like a heresy. Remember, your own body creates everything your hair and nails need to be their best!
